The ownership has changed, but an Allen Park tradition has continued.

Tullio’s La Riviera was opened in 1955 by E. Tullio and Josephine Eusani, and their son, Greg, eventually took over. When he retired in May 2007, he sold it to Villson Veseli, who kept the restaurant’s name and decor, including the bar, dining room and banquet room.

And, the tradition of fine Italian food has continued, in addition to seafood, veal, chicken, beef, burgers, dinner salads, appetizers and soup. A wide variety of pizza has returned to the menu. Desserts include cannoli, homemade cake, ice cream and spumoni.

There also is a large selection of wine to accompany diners’ meals.

Veseli, who was a civil engineer, came to the United States from Kosovo in 1994, not able to speak English. He started working in the restaurant business, and two years later bought Murphy’s Coney Island Restaurant in Livonia, which he still owns.

He said he was looking for a new adventure and found it in Tullio’s.

Tullio’s La Riviera can host banquets of up to 195 people. The banquet room seats about 65, but the whole restaurant can be used. Plus, carryout party trays that feed 20 to 25 people are available.

Tullio’s hosts euchre games from 7 to 10 p.m. Mondays, and there are tastings from 7 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays: Wine on the fi rst Tuesday of the month, beer
on the second, liquor on the third and martinis and margaritas on the fourth.

The tastings include a variety of appetizers.

Tullio’s La Riviera is at 7910 Allen Road, two blocks north of Champaign.

Call 1-313-381-2813 for more information.
